it’s been quite a while since I posted. Just to much has happened in my life. What do you do when your alcoholic spouse asks you to save them? Many women who haven’t had support will jump for joy over this. In her heart and mind she is thinking ; yes! Finally! She begins to plan in her mind days of past happy times. Long nights of closeness and love ❤️ but ladies, this never happens and the let down is very hard on you. I want you to think about these words I’m writing.

“I love you, and I’m glad you want help. I can support you, but I can’t save you — you have to be part of saving yourself. I will stand with you while you get help, and I’ll walk with you through the steps you choose. You’re not alone, but the work has to start with you.”

Stop on think about what I just wrote. You cannot save them. You can’t physically stop him from drinking. Mental games, pleading, begging with tears doesn’t work. I believe in motivational therapy to encourage them to get help. You also need your own support system. What ever works for you, whether it’s A.A., or S.M.A.R.T.or get a therapist who specializes in marriage with addiction. the psychological affect-the wife
